Your Guide to Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs)

What is an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA)?

An IVA or Individual Voluntary Arrangement is a formal agreement available for people living in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is a suitable debt solution for those struggling to meet monthly repayments on high levels of debt. As an IVA in the UK is a legally binding agreement it is vital Your Debt Expert has a clear understanding of your financial circumstances before application.

How does an IVA work?

A Debt Advisor will assess your debt and work out an affordable monthly repayment schedule. An IVA is a legal agreement and must be arranged by a licensed practitioner. The duration of this debt solution programme is 5 years with no interest or additional charges during this period. Once the IVA has been agreed your Creditors cannot take legal action and in some instances can write off debt you cannot afford to pay.

Why would you want an IVA?

An Individual Voluntary Arrangement may be the ideal debt solution if:-

  • You would prefer a Debt Expert dealt with your Creditors
  • You’d like to pay a single amount per month
  • You want to be debt free at the end of the IVA

Unlike other debt solutions an IVA is a legally binding agreement. Call 0141 227 7730 for the best IVA advice and how to apply.
